The Verdict — In the Owner's Words

The reviewer was already impressed with the AWKG before the modification. After the JM Audio tuning, however, he described it as:

“My favorite closed-back headphone I have ever listened to.”

Based on his personal listening experience, he said the modified AWKG surpassed several highly regarded closed-back headphones he had heard, including the DCA Stealth, DCA E3, Focal Stellia, ZMF Atrium Closed and ZMF Caldera Closed, while noting that the Atrium Closed remained his second favorite.

That is particularly notable because his conclusion wasn't that JM Audio had simply added more bass or warmed up the headphone.

His description points to something broader: a fuller, more dimensional and organic presentation while preserving the speed, resolution and technical character that made the AWKG special in the first place.

BEYOND SUCCESSFUL!!! The AUDIO-TECHNICA ATH-AWKG KUROGAKI is in for some much-needed tuning modifications. The goal is to correct the unnatural presentation of instruments, male and female vocals—without needing EQ.

Mods successful beyond belief- exceeded my expected sound and then some, this will now be an available new modification option for ATH-AWKG owners looking to bring out the best possible tuning and performance from these headphones. There are now three adjustable ports on each cup as well that really help get the tone you love -

Bass is tighter, details more precise and honky nature is now gone- no need to eq these anymore after the 5 hour modification is complete- price includes shipping back to user in USA 🇺🇸
